Yorkshire Business Awards 2013

Henderson Insurance Brokers, one of the UK’s leading independent insurance brokers, has announced that it is a lead sponsor of the esteemed Yorkshire Business Awards 2013.

The awards ceremony is to take place at a lunchtime event on Friday December 13 at the Queens Hotel in Leeds at 11.30am for a 12noon start.

Selina Scott will compere the awards, and Stuart Lancaster, England Rugby Union’s head coach, will be a guest speaker along with political commentator, presenter and broadcaster, Jonathan Dimbleby.

The Yorkshire Business Awards have been organised by Variety, the Children’s Charity, which gives positive experiences to children and young people who are sick, disabled or disadvantaged throughout the UK.

The ceremony focuses on four categories, which includes Business Leader of the Year, Board of the Year, SME of the Year and The Variety Lifetime Achievement Award, which the charity will present to actress, scriptwriter and director, Kay Mellor OBE.

Joe Henderson, CEO of Henderson Insurance Brokers, said: “We are delighted to be sponsoring such an illustrious event. The Yorkshire Business Awards should prove to be a memorable event with such a fantastic line up of guest speakers.

“It will be a great opportunity for businesses to network and meet new people, and I would like to wish each business that has been shortlisted all the best of luck, and hope that everyone has an enjoyable time.”

Martin Shaw, the Chairman of the Yorkshire Business Awards said: “Last December’s event celebrated the 26th year of the awards and raised a fantastic £120,000 for the Variety, the Children’s Charity. Despite the recession, I continue to be amazed at the support from the Yorkshire business community.
“Well over £3,000,000 has been raised at the Yorkshire Business Awards Lunch, which has enabled Variety to provide over 70 Sunshine Coaches, 150 electric wheelchairs and 500 important items of equipment for the sick, disabled and disadvantaged children of the Yorkshire region.”

Martin added: “We are delighted to have Henderson Insurance Brokers on board to support us again this year. There is no doubt that growing recognition of the importance of corporate social responsibility by successful businesses such as Henderson’s, including their management and staff, for the wellbeing of those less fortunate, has helped us to support the lives of those children.”

Ernst & Young, Yorkshire Building Society, Pace, Pinsent Masons, Yorkshire Bank, Rothschild and The Design Portfolio Marketing Services are also lead sponsors of the event.

Tickets are priced at £100 with a limit of 20 tickets per company and can be purchased online at www.variety.org or by contacting Kirsty Simpson at kirsty.simpson@variety.org.uk.
